“Our prime purpose in this life is to help others.” ~ Dalai Lama
Within the scope of the above enlightenment, insights and understandings, we acknowledge it is by grace we are blessed.
Taniela Fonua (Daniel)
My name is Joel Donald Mallory, Sr. I am a US Citizen who retired to the Kingdom of Tonga, but has since returned to Houston Texas. I need for you to hear this story.
Daniel is a 24 year old citizen and resident of the Island Nation of Tonga, which is located in the deep South Pacific approximately 2,100 Kilometers (1,300 miles) NNE of Auckland, New Zealand. His home is in the capitol city of Nukualofa on the largest island of Tongatapu.
The neurofibromatosis tumor you see on the photos below has been with him all of his life growing insidiously larger with each passing year.
He is intelligent with a quick-wit, has an even disposition, and he speaks and understands English fluently. As a child, he dreamed of being a Rugby player on Tonga’s internationally recognized team. As you can see by the extent of his tumor that dream, at present, is an impossibility.
But, we as caring people can make the impossible possible! I am asking, on Daniel’s behalf, for you to assist him in finding the help he so desperately needs. Can you imagine living your life with this easily treatable facial deformity and being daily ostracized by primitive thinking people who have the audacity to suggest that he has been cursed by God, and the fearful reaction of young children and adults who can only see his deformed face and not the beautiful human being behind the mask?
I feel his pain and I know that after taking one look at his photos — you can feel his pain too.
Tonga is a poor third world country whose so-called hospital qualifies at best as an inadequately funded long-term care facility where upon seeking treatment, one’s health either improves on its own or, more than likely, one dies. Although what passes for healthcare is free to her citizens, the nation does not possess the facilities nor the skill to perform this kind of surgery.
So I am asking — NO BEGGING — for you to join the search with me to find a caring doctor and hospital anywhere in the world who will perform this surgery. Some physicians have suggested, because of the nature of this kind of tumor, it is too dangerous to remove; there is a strong possibility, Daniel can bleed to death during the operation.
How Can I Help?
HELP US FIND A FACILITY WILLING TO PERFORM THIS OPERATION
I am positive that with a thorough search we can and will find a solution to our quest.

Thanking you in advance,
